This week, learn more about Ean, one of our newest additions to the team but an experienced guide, hiker and Arizonan.
What, if any is your favorite National Park? Why?
Grand Canyon. come on, it’s the Grand Canyon. and I’m an Arizonan.
Do you have a favorite hike, and if so, what is it? Why?
Angel’s Landing- as adventurous as it gets! I also like Hickman Bridge as a less challenging but very interesting hike.
What is your favorite tour to lead at Southwest Adventure Tours and why?
The Grand Circle Experience is a dream tour! The diversity!
What is your favorite part about being a tour guide?
People! I will never tire of revisiting locations because of the joy I get in bringing others to them for the first time. Also, I get to learn and grow, while learning about people’s lives and home regions.
What’s the hardest part about being a tour guide?
I started a boxing club back home to help myself and friends stay fit.I hope they’re not getting lazy while I’m away!
Do you have any great memories to share from any of our tours?
Sometimes we have groups with members of different levels of ability and fitness. I had an amazing group like this, where everyone was supportive and encouraging, pulling together to make sure two members of our group were feeling included and safe out on our hikes. It was inspiring.
What is your favorite topic to share on tours?
I enjoy telling about some of the lesser known historical figures who helped shape the Southwest.
Do you have any other dream places that you wish to travel to?
It’s funny, I’ve been all over the world, but still not to the South. I hope next year to visit some friends in Baton Rouge and attend the Louisiana International Music Festival.
Some of our guests have concerns about the amount of hiking. How do
you put their mind at ease on the tours?
I will access your hiking ability/desire and adjust accordingly to your needs. Sometimes a fun, challenging hike is in order, other times a leisurely scenic stroll.
Using 3 words, describe your guiding style.
Seize the day.
Is there anything else you would want your guests to know about you
before they travel with you?
I have three degrees of separation with the Dalai Lama, and only two with Chuck Norris! Also, I love to hike!
